One day, I was in my room and the Holy Spirit reminded me of ‘situationships’ I was in years ago.
That got me thinking, I have to confess.
After all, James 5:16 says,
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
I started remembering, unveiling everything layer by layer. As I confessed to my friend (let’s call this friend Blessing), Blessing laid back and just listened; with a keen facial expression, Blessing gazed at me.
Little did I know that the god of this world blinded me. I did myself a great disservice by ignoring the word of God, and consequently, I was perishing, so deep in sin, and what baffles me is that fact I had no idea! I thought I was enlisted in God’s army, a member of His kingdom but I was on the broad way instead of the narrow way.
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NLT
Indeed, you will know them by their fruits!
The company of friends I kept didn’t scream Godly. I walked in the counsel of the ungodly, stood in the path of sinners, and sat in the seat of the scornful. But God showed me mercy! Day by day, His mercy was renewed. I had no idea I was riding on the wings of His mercy. He found me, He kept me, Jesus preserved me.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound. That’s saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now I am found. I Was blind, but now I see.
Rebuke is not sweet, but I’m grateful to Blessing for opening my eyes. Immediately after the confession, I repented and cried to God for mercy.
Remember, Jesus did not come to call the righteous but to call the sinner.
“I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” Luke 5:32 NLT
Confess your sins today, accept Jesus as your Lord and personal savior, invite the Holy Spirit into your life, and live a life guided by the Holy Spirit.
